Literature lovers have a cause to smile as 30th September 2022 approaches Courtesy of Macondo Book Society.

Macondo Literary Festival is here.

The first workshop, caricaturing, will take place on the first day of the festival at 10am.

The caricature history will be moderated by Gaddo, the great cartoonist.

“For generations, satire has been used as a tool for understanding complex issues. Especially in authoritarian societies, caricaturists challenge the establishment. Satire has always spoken truth to power”, the statement says in part.

.@MacondoLitFest is offering three free workshops on September 30, at 10.00 am:
1. Caricaturing History – with @iGaddo
2. Poetry in History – with Sylvie Kandé
3. Writing One's Memoir – with Patrice Nganang

In this workshop, Gado, Africa’s best-known caricaturist, will be using historical context as a tool to show how to become a better cartoonist and how to use political history to demonstrate a point.

Poetry in History

“This two-hour long workshop will examine the complex dynamics at play between two fields, poetry and history, that are often perceived as polar opposites”, workshop organisers for this particular segment say in part.

It will be moderated by Sylvie Kandé.

Lastly, writing one’s memoir whch will be moderated by Patrice Nganang. The award-winning Cameroonian novelist and scholar would like to share this journey with anyone interested in exploring this genre.
