Ekoroi sees the following seven issues that must be tackled by William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua after the swearing-in today.
1) CBC
CBC or Competency Based Curriculum should be done away with. Some people say it would be disruptive. Was COVID-19 that misarranged our school calendars not disruptive?
We can’t now say things like it is too disruptive to go back to 8-4-4 yet a huge section of Kenyan society cannot afford this type of education. We are pros at bungling elections, wasting time in courts and public funds wastage. Why not this particular disruption?
Disrupt, we can live with it.
We have also seen that parents can pay fees (CBC things), and we do away with free education too.
2) Banned Books
Banned books that paint Kenyatta as a Saint. Can we for one get back the book, ‘The struggle of Freedom and Justice by Bildad Kaggia’? Please.
It spoke some uncomfortable truths about Jomo Kenyatta, lighting up social media and the blogosphere. Then vanished. This was that time when entire newspaper publications talking against UhuRuto corruption were bought off the streets. Do you remember, you Kenya warthog, short memory?
There are other books too that need unbanning.
Also don’t ever ban any criticism against you!
3) Population
What are the real population numbers, are Kikuyus really populous? I’ve doubted this for a long time but I think Ruto won’t upset the apple cart since he wants these numbers to use to rig again in 2027.
I believe Luhyas are the most populous.
4) Fight against Corruption
Who needs the EACC?
Do away with Ethics and Anticorruption Commission. Who needs it anyway yet the police are going to be funded to execute their mandate well? By doing away with EACC, some graduates and other job seekers wouldn’t have to look for this useless certificate when hunting for a job.
5) Mombasa port?
Please return that port to the people of Mombasa as soon as possible. That small town needs that money to help its poor people. They are very poor
6) Energy
Following the above Mombasa port issue. It is a must that you make sure that cartels in energy are rooted out. The Naivasha business park, where SGR nearly ends and was the reason for the dry port etc. was to be supplied much by Geothermal Power.
Kenya has an oversupply of electricity but sabotaging that for Independent Power Producers to sell theirs is wrong. End it
7) Three, oops, Four arms of government
Nairobi has an oversupply of Executive, Legislature, Judiciary and independent commissions.
Apart from Devolution, please develop some other Kenyan cities such as Kisumu, Kakamega, Eldoret, Kapsabet and Kericho. Kisumu can have The Senate and Eldoret can have The Parliament building. All the mentioned towns will benefit from real estate, social amenities and infrastructure.
The executive can remain in Nairobi.
The Judiciary should have a seat in Mombasa, Malindi or one of the coastal towns with good air quality, some wildlife, and good land for building big buildings
