Onejikũ is an upcoming poet.
Her 54-paged book is divided into two parts namely; Earth & Life and Spiritual/ Devotional.
I found the second part Spiritual/ Devotional to have good poetry and is more relatable.
The first part, especially the first three poems is a bit hard to feel the poetic flow.
If it was by design, then yes, the poems get enjoyable as one reads through the book.
I loved patches, what if I live, surrender, and We can Trust him.
Masking the time and years taken to complete,
Concealing the tears and sorrowful days
Until beauty is all we behold
– Onejikũ, Patches, Heart strings.
The overlying message in the author’s words is hope.
Hoping against the burden of thoughts of defeat, hope against hope when the chips are down.
Onejikũ delivers well the messages she aptly titled heart strings.
The second part of the book under spiritual/devotional is heartful psalms, an enjoyable read. Onejikũ belts her heart out. The hope of a new day despite hardships – Ekoroi
It is indeed documentation of hers, even one’s relationship with the earth and with a god.
Poetry of hope, rebirth and reawakening.
Keep it up.
