Kalonzo Musyoka has miscalculated this time around.
Ecclesiastes 9:12 For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.
Some political pundits have analysed that Kalonzo wants to benefit from a run-off that might occur during the presidential contest between Raila Odinga and William Ruto.
The first thing that Kalonzo has missed is that this election, unlike 2007 one, has no incumbent in it.
Secondly, since there’s no incumbent in it, there will be a clear winner in the first round
Thirdly, if there’s no clear winner in the first round, Raila has already offered him the post of Chief Minister, a post akin to what Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matian’gi holds and so, it would be foolish to expect him to side with William Ruto in case of a run-off vote.
William Ruto has the baggage of Musaia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, supposedly Luhya community bigwigs.
He will have to deal with them, to satisfy them before coming for Kalonzo. And what post will he offer Kalonzo?
In the event there’s no run-off, then this will be the end of the Kamba King.
The Kamba nation will have automatically entered a Luhya phase; where the community will have no direction, and have warring directionless leaders.
Kalonzo’s announcement and deputy presidential pick is stuff of anger and it is hilarious, unplanned, caught in an evil net.
