The Autobahn is a system of federal government-controlled access highways in Germany.
There were rumours that one can drive at any speed they want, but that is true for only 60 per cent of the highway.
Still good if you ask me.
However, even in areas where traffic is heavier or near cities the speed limit is still high between 95km/hr to 115km/hr.
According to auto.howstuffworks.com, the fastest speed ever recorded on the German Autobahn was 432 kilometres per hour.
That speed was recorded by Rudolf Caracciola on the stretch just before his accident.
When the Kenyan government announced that a dual highway will be built between Nairobi and Mombasa, I was elated.
I pictured that finally, Kenyans would have an Autobahn. The dream has been deferred, due to corruption and the pulling out of the deal by the US engineering firm Bechtel.
Nonetheless, the plans live on as GoK is hunting for a new contractor.
That said, Kenyan drivers yearned for a stretch with less traffic and potholes; and the Nairobi Expressway came early.
Thank Goodness.
Nairobi Expressway has a speed limit of 80km/hr
But have you seen the speeds they are doing with their Subarus and Audis on the stretch of elevated highway?
It just shows that they needed an Autobahn.
Take a look
A Audi does 253 km/hr on the Nairobi Expressway
Drivers do over 160 km/hr on the Nairobi Expressway
How fast do you think the driver of the white Subaru is going?
Doing over 220km/hr on the Nairobi Expressway
