Abdi Zeila has filed a class action lawsuit against Safaricom Plc and the Communications Authority of Kenya.
“To those who has lost financially due to illegal SIM swaps, my legal team has commenced a class action lawsuit against Safaricom Plc (Twitter handles). If you want to be enjoined, please email the legal team at wk@africalawpartners.com. This excerpt is from today’s Standard”, Abdi wrote on Twitter sharing the image below.
In April 2022, Mr Abdi had shaed how he lost money to sim swap frausters.
“Hello. I am following up on the issue of the illegal SIM swap conducted on my line. Because of the SIM swap, a serious breach of my finances occurred, resulting in huge financial losses. I also note that these criminals took Safaricom MPESA loans and I am now being reminded to “pay” you Safaricom back for loans I never took. You facilitated the SIM swap on my phone, and you are now demanding I “pay” for loans taken criminally on my line. I have made a report to the police as well as to you, Safaricom. Can you please (a) cancel this illegal loan that I never took? (b) cancel the FULIZA loan on my line, which I also never took? I just want my line back in the status it was on March 27 – with no loans and no fuliza debts”.
