Prolific blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has condemned the arrest of gossip blogger Edgar Obare terming is as wrong.
“We cannot solve civil matters with guns and DCI summons and Joho is wrong to push DCI to “Punish” a blogger”, Nyakundi wrote in part.
The draconian Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act is being used to criminalize civil matters. Blogger Nyakundi has called on the DPP to review his cases which are too weak to proceed because they are based on witch hunt.
The blogger who runs the cnyakundi.com has enjoined in the case challenging the draconian law.
The full statement is given below:
The arrest of Edgar Obare is wrong. The DCI is misusing the Cyber Crime act to bully bloggers as criminals walk free. When I called on Bloggers to challenge the law, they refused and said the law is for Nyakundi and Alai.
Now they are coming for entertainment bloggers and soon it will be fashion bloggers etc.
We cannot solve civil matters with guns and DCI summons and Joho is wrong to push DCI to “Punish” a blogger.
In 2017, Joho sent the disbanded flying squad to arrest me after I exposed how he was looting via Njuca construction and what Obare is going through is just gimmicks meant to make Joho happy.
For instance, I have more than 15 criminal cases pertaining to my online activities pending in court because the cases are too weak to proceed, some pending since 2015!
Judiciary and DPP must review some of these cases because it is an abuse of the court process.
In the meantime, I filed an appeal challenging the retrogressive law seeking conservatory orders against the law
